This project brings together the people who carry on the Takayama Festival’s traditions and creators from around the world, connecting the festival’s unique appeal with new experiences. Drawing on its festival floats, history, and craftsmanship passed down through generations, as well as the spirit embodied in the festival, Creators from around the world are developing games and digital items. Playing becomes a way to discover and learn about the festival. Creating becomes a way to engage with its culture. We are also working to build a system that channels revenue from these games and digital items into preserving and passing on the festival’s traditions for generations to come. Here in Takayama, tradition meets digital creativity as we explore new possibilities for the festival. Together with everyone involved, we will continue to nurture this initiative.
